Can stair lifts be installed in any staircase?
HIRO LIFT stair lifts can be individually designed to suit almost every type of accommodation and staircase. Our experienced engineers can find practical and inexpensive solutions even for narrow staircases. Our special development of the so-called traction drive enables us to install the lift on the outer or the inner side of your stairs. Even a tight curve radius presents no problem. A HIRO stair lift fits every staircase.
Won’t a stair lift take up too much space in my house and will it match my décor?
HIRO stair lifts are small and can be adapted to suit the existing living space. Thanks to the fold-away seat and armrests, the modern HIRO stair lift takes up only 40 cm of space, thus creating more space when the lift is not required. Furthermore, you can choose from a variety of colours and materials for the seat cover and the rail elements, allowing the lift to blend harmoniously with the ambience of your home.
How do I find the stair lift that best suits my needs?
You can find the right model by means of a well-founded consultation session, which of course is free of charge, with our staff. Our range of products is so diverse that almost all requirements can be taken into consideration. We will plan and manufacture a lift, just for you, to meet your specific requirements.
What specific benefits do the HIRO LIFT products offer?
HIRO LIFT is a leading manufacturer of special lifts in Germany. We offer everything under one roof: consultation, design, manufacture and service. In this way we create the best preconditions for modifying the lift to suit the situation in your home as perfectly as possible. We also guarantee a high quality standard. This is possible because, in contrast to many pure distribution companies that only sell products made by others, we produce all our own products at our company premises in Bielefeld. All HIRO LIFT products are traditionally based on good German engineering work and are distinguished by their comfort, longevity and special running quality.
As a further special advantage we offer you our own patented development: a special drive system for lifts. We do not use conventional racks or chains that need regular oiling and greasing. We used to use this technique many years ago, but decided on an advanced development. Our present-day lifts run on two round and smooth stainless steel tube rails, which remain clean and shiny even in operation and allow you to be transported smoothly and quietly along the stairs.
How safe and comfortable is the stair lift?
All HIRO LIFT stair lifts are extremely easy to operate, even for people with limited motor control. The seats and backrests allow you to adopt a comfortable posture and therefore ensure a very comfortable ride.

Each stair lift has a number of benefits with regard to safety and comfort: for example, they each offer the greatest possible freedom of movement for the knees and legs when you are seated and travelling with your back to the outer wall or to the banister. With the fully automatic swivel seat, you turn away from the stairs onto safe ground and can then simply step from the lift or take a seat. All internal control units can be fixed to the armrest or to the spiral cable. The external control unit is used for calling or dispatching the lift, and in some models also for folding out or folding up. A normal mains socket suffices for the power supply. You will not require a separately fused power supply cable from a fuse box. All our lifts are fitted with a maintenance-free rechargeable gel battery that keeps the lift operational for several hours, so you do not have to worry about power cuts.
Who installs the stair lift?
Our fitters are almost all permanent employees. Most of them have worked for us for many years. They will install the lift cleanly and precisely for you in your furnished home. You also profit here from our high quality standard guarantee as well as our customer service and trouble-free servicing via a nationwide network of subsidiaries.
As a rule, customers in other countries are looked after locally by our carefully selected partner companies. Their employees are trained by us on a regular basis and can consult our design engineers immediately should any questions arise.
Can I have a stair lift installed in my rented apartment?
In Germany, if you are reliant on a stair lift for access to your apartment, your landlord is not allowed to refuse you permission to install one. You will have to pay the costs yourself, however. § 554a, Section 1 of the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch, BGB) forms the basis for this ruling. The provisions of the relevant local state building regulations must also be taken into consideration. Should an individual case require examination, HIRO LIFT staff will support you in this matter.
We know of no cases in other countries in which the installation of a stair lift in a rented apartment was not permitted.
How much do the stair lifts cost?
Due to the wide range of models and the sometimes very individual solutions, we are not able to give concrete price indications here. Larger differences in price occur particularly if you wish to install a lift between several storeys instead of between two storeys.
